Investor readiness is an edio specialism. Over five years we have prepared companies for raises from pre-seed to Series A, including investor readiness training on ICURe and pitch evaluation for SETsquared Surrey’s S100 angel investor club.
Cyber security founders face a particular version of the problem. Early-stage investors often lack sector understanding, the field moves fast, and small companies find it hard to frame value propositions that land. In 2025 SETsquared commissioned edio to build a course for companies raising in this sector.
What we did
We built the course around businesses the audience would recognise as their own.
Two fast-scaling cyber security companies from the SETsquared community agreed to be filmed. Both had recently been through successful raises and both were open about the experience. Short clips work through their decision points and challenges, supported by investment timelines and a view of the cyber security investor landscape.
The strategy content centres on blended income. Grants, sales revenue and investment, combined deliberately across milestones rather than chasing the next available cheque. Learners build an investment timeline that extends beyond the immediate raise and identify specific early revenue and grant opportunities.
Self-managed content is wrapped with peer learning sessions, one-to-one coaching led by edio on behalf of SETsquared, and a closing Q&A with an experienced cyber security seed investor on what the sector’s investors want now.
Combined deliberately, rather than chasing the next available cheque.
The outcome
Cyber Invest launched in summer 2026 with its first cohort in place immediately. Participants finish with a raise strategy set in a longer milestone timeline, sector-specific reference points from founders who have done it, and direct contact with the investor community.
